Our master student Zhuan Yuanjun won an excellent master thesis award.

Associate Professor Sze Yun SET  was selected as a Fellow of OSA for the invention of carbon nanotube mode-locked lasers and nano-carbon photonics, and pioneering contributions to the commercialization of technologies related to ultrafast optics.
Founded in 1916, OSA is an academic society headquartered in the United States. Since its inception, OSA has played a leading role in the fields of optics and photonics research. Fewer than 0.5% of the members are selected each year for their outstanding achievements in the field, unparalleled experience and knowledge, and their achievements for reform and progress. Therefore, only a limited number of people are certified to be promoted to fellows.

Prof. Yamashita presided the Plenary Session I of CLEO 2020.

Chao Zhang and Dr. Shin Sato (Makihara lab) gave public talks about their visitings of the University of Cambridge at RCAST.

120 committee members turned up and a job well done! Plenty of great research papers!

Yuanjun Zhu visited Prof. Zhipei Sun’s group of Aalto University (1-7 Feb. 2020) and Russel Division of Max Planck Institute (9-14 Feb. 2020).

Chao Zhang and Shoko Yokokawa made presentations on SPIE Photonics West 2020 at San Francisco.

Dr. Judith Birkenfeld of Instituto de Óptica (CSIC) gave us a talk about biophotonics.

Prof. Gong-Ru Lin of National Taiwan University gave a talk titled “All-optical Data Processing in Non-stoichiometric SiC Waveguide”
